Join us for an exciting family adventure in the Pieniny mountains of Southern Poland. We raft through the majestic Dunajec Gorge and cycle limestone trails following the Dunajec river. We explore the captivating medieval city of Krakow and stay in the historic spa town of Szczawnica, from where we visit the peaks of the surrounding mountains. Along the way we enjoy traditional local food and generous Polish hospitality.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Krakow. Drive to Szczawnica in the Pieniny mountains. Day 2 River rafting Enjoy some gentle rafting through the towering limestone cliffs of the Dunajec Gorge. Day 3 Cable car We ride the cable car to the summit of Palenica. Walk or cycle among the alpine scenery with views of the Slovak Tatras. There’s the option of taking a toboggan run. In the evening enjoy a delicious local meal and traditional music around the campfire. Day 4 Pieniny Way We cycle from Poland to Slovakia (20 km over fairly flat terrain) with an optional hike to the Sokolica viewpoint. Day 5 Return to Krakow Visit Wieliczka salt mine before returning to Krakow, the former capital of Poland. Day 6 Medieval tour Enjoy Krakow’s highlights including the medieval market square and the Old Town. Visit Wawel Castle and encounter the city’s famous fire-breathing dragon. Day 7 Free day Cycle the banks of the Vistula river or travel to Auschwitz. Day 8 Fly to the UK.
