LAND OF THE LEMURS 15 DAYS – WILDLIFE AND LOCAL ENCOUNTERS
Madagascar is one of the best destinations on earth for discovering exotic wildlife. We encounter endangered lemurs in the forests of Andasibe, search for rare frogs and chameleons on night walks and scan the Indian Ocean coastline for migrating whales. We also visit traditional villages to learn about local life and relax on the tropical island of Sainte Marie.
ITINERARY
Days 1/2 Overnight flight to Antananarivo. Day 3 Andasibe Visit a reptile park. Travel to Andasibe National Park and take a nocturnal walk through the forest in search of frogs, chameleons and mouse lemurs. Days 4/5 Indri lemur Spend two days in Mantadia and Analamazoatra Reserves. Take a series of nature walks in search of the ‘singing’ indri lemur, the largest of the population. Optional visit to local villages. Days 6/7 Pangalanes Canal Drive to Manambato on the east coast. Take a boat to Akanin ny Nofy on Lake Ampitabe. Spend a morning in the private nature reserve looking for the many species of lemur. Optional beach walks and visit to local village. Day 8 Waterways Travel by boat along the Pangalanes Canal to Toamasina. Days 9/11 Ile Sainte Marie Fly to the island. Optional activites include humpback whale- watching (July to September), a visit to a pirate graveyard, mountain biking, snorkelling or a boat trip to Ille aux Nattes. Days 12/13 Antananarivo Fly back to Tana. Visit the lemur park and explore the Malagasy capital. Days 14/15 Fly to the UK.
