3 Balancing the Cash Account
Balancing the cash account shows the money left at the end of the period (if any). This is called the balance. There are a few steps in balancing a cash account.
Know It!
Balancing the Cash Account Step 1 Add up the Total columns on both sides (i.e. debit and credit side). Step 2 Subtract the smaller total from the larger total. The difference is called balance c/d (smaller side)
Enter total figures on both sides, they have to be on the same line across (observe the €70 in the example on the next page).
