The practice of recording income and expenditure is called bookkeeping. Within bookkeeping there are a few rules which we must follow:
There are two sides to the cash account, that basically looks like a T.

Left = cash in = Debit Right = cash out = Credit

Accuracy is key. Follow the debit and credit side rule.
