The JC Business Times Litter Caused by ‘Food on the Go’
Fast-food packaging makes up an estimated 40% of all litter in Ireland. This litter is causing damage to our planet and its resources.
Questions 1. Is fast food a need (something you cannot live without) or a want (something you would like to have)?
2. Before ordering your fast food, what things might you consider, i.e. what choices would you make? For example, health, litter, etc.
3. Do you like to see fast-food packaging around your home or on the side of the road?
4. What impact does fast-food litter have on you and others?
Before We Begin …
In this unit, we are looking at needs and wants from an individual perspective. This is also true for organisations and businesses (Strand 2). As we progress to our economy, we will learn that governments have needs and wants too, and that they must make choices (Strand 3).
1 Personal Resources
A personal resource is anything that we can use to meet our needs or achieve our goals. For example, your books and study hall are resources that will help you achieve your goals in education.
We are going to study the household and the people in the household (individuals). Households and individuals have many resources available to them. We tend to think about resources in terms of money and material possessions, but there are other important resources available to us.
Do you know about the impact of litter on animals?
