The choice we, as individuals, make has an impact on society (a group of people living in an ordered community). Let’s look at a few ways our decisions can impact society:

Jack’s decision to buy the PlayStation game has an impact on the environment. He has to dispose of the plastic around the game, causing damage to the environment.
Jack’s purchase of this game can lead to job creation in the gaming shop and in Sony (creators of PlayStation).
The PlayStation price includes VAT. The Value-Added Tax (VAT) on the game is revenue (income) for the government. The government can now spend the money on other areas, such as hospitals and schools, which will benefit society.

1. Jack decides to get a puppy costing €1,000. His family decide not to go on holidays as a result.
2. Jack decides to buy a ticket to the Halloween disco which costs €10. Jack cannot atttend a family dinner that night.
3. Tickets to the Arianna Grande concert cost €200 but Jack chooses to spend the money on new clothes.
