The Sleek Can launch marks the most significant change in Coca-Cola’s can offering for more than 70 years and is a first for the soft drink industry in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The new Sleek Can will also contribute to Coca-Cola’s journey towards a world without waste, by enabling the introduction of more sustainable secondary packaging for multipack cans.

1 Marketing What?
Marketing means identifying a consumer’s needs/wants and researching how to supply these needs/wants at a profit. It is finding out what a customer wants and making a product/ service to satisfy these needs, whilst making a profit.
For example:
1. Identify the needs of the target market. 2. Organise a marketing plan. 3. Design the product. 4. Decide where to advertise.
5. Record the cost of advertising in the accounts as an expense.
Who?
The business/organisation can hire an external marketing company or they may have their own marketing department.

Marketing is mainly done through advertising. We will study some of the types of advertising in this unit.
When?
Marketing takes place in stages from when the product is planned to when it is brought to market and beyond.
