Ireland and Globalisation
Ireland is considered to be a small open globalised economy. Multinational companies such as Apple, McDonald's, Facebook and Boston Scientific all operate in Ireland for various reasons:
• Ireland is located between America and Europe, with the added bonus of being an EU member.
• Ireland’s corporation tax on companies’ profits is currently at 12.5% (as with all taxes, this may change).
• Ireland contains an English-speaking work force. English is considered to be the language of business and widely used globally.
• Ireland is home to internationally recognised universities, making its work force very well educated.
