Success criteria I can name places where slavery is still in existence.
In the Middle Ages, a serf belonged to the land and had to work on it for their lord. If a lord was selling land, the serfs could be sold with it. Serfdom came to an end in France in 1318, in England in 1574 and in Russia as late as 1861.
Slavery was abolished (ended) in 1833 in the UK and in 1865 in the US . Unfortunately, there are still many forms of slavery today. These include human traffi cking, child slavery, bonded labour (being forced to work to pay back a debt), forced labour, domestic slavery and forced marriage.
Working in pairs, look at the two sources of information on slavery below and answer the questions that follow.
