I can identify the consequences of not having laws.
When a law has been passed, the minister in charge has the power to add to the law. This is called a statutory instrument. The Irish Statute Book is a database of all Irish laws passed by the Oireachtas. It also contains the most recent version of the Constitution and statutory instruments.
Working in pairs, look at the laws on the Irish Statute book on the next page and discuss what the consequence would be if these laws did not exist. Write your answers. The fi rst one has been done as an example.
