Water is needed for many things around the house: ● A standard toilet – 9 litres per fl ush ● A dual fl ush toilet – 5 litres per fl ush ● A dishwasher – 20 litres per full load ● Handwashing dishes – 49 litres per full load ● Standard electrical shower – 4 litres per minute ● Power shower – 8 litres per minute
● Bath – 80 litres per bath ● Running the tap when brushing teeth or shaving – 6 litres per minute
● Washing the car at home – 300 litres ● Washing the car at a carwash – 125 litres ● Watering plants – 135 litres per 15 minutes
Based on the fi gures above, calculate your household’s weekly usage of water. One use
