I can explain how photos from the region show how the confl ict is causing numerous human rights concerns.
Israel claims all the city of Jerusalem as its capital, even though the east of the city is in the Palestinian West Bank. Some 630,000 Israelis live in settlements built on land captured during the Six Day War despite this being against international law. In 2019, the European Court of Justice decided that food produced in Israeli West Bank settlements cannot be labelled as a product of Israel. Many Palestinians work in the settlements. However, their land continues to be taken for settlements, they are not allowed to use the roads linking the settlements to Israel and Palestinian civilians are tried in military courts instead of civil courts.
Working in pairs, look at the photos below from the region and explain what human rights are being denied or experienced by the people in each photo.
