Look at the following three scenarios. What rights are being denied? What could you do in this situation?
Scenario
1. Lynne is being excluded by other girls in the class. They meet up after school, but never ask her to join them. The class have social media groups, but she is not included. She is never asked to parties and, if she tries to join in at breaktime, they either ignore her or walk away. Nobody wants to sit beside her.
2. Jane returned to Ireland two years ago after spending most of her working life in London. She now lives in a nursing home. Jane has no children and her only nephew lives in New Zealand. She enjoys playing cards and chatting to people, but the other residents do not play cards and she never has visitors.
3. Your local park has no facilities for young people. You love tennis and think there should be a tennis court built in it. Some of your friends like pitch and putt. But the park is boring at the moment − unless you play soccer, there is nothing to do there.
