When trying to identify whether or not a news report is fake, consider the following: ● Has the story been covered by other papers, websites or channels? ● Does the story come from a newspaper, magazine or website you have never heard of? ● Does it include a lot of advertisements? ● Is the journalist named? If so, do they have a good reputation? ● Are reputable experts quoted? ● Were reliable witnesses mentioned? ● Has the website/paper a history of publishing unreliable news items? ● Do a reverse image search to fi nd the original source of an image using www.tineye.com.
Your teacher will now show you two videos and two articles. Using the guidelines above decide whether they are objective, satirical, biased or completely fake.
