Understanding words related to human rights Success criteria
I can identify words used when talking about human rights.
Human rights are the basic rights that a human being has, from birth to death, regardless of nationality, sex, ethnic origin, colour, religion, sexuality, language or any other status. There are fi ve kinds of human rights:
1. Civil
2. Cultural
3. Economic
4. Political
5. Social
These rights include really important ones like the right to life as well as rights that make life better, such as working in a safe environment, education, healthcare, fair trial and asylum. Human rights are based on human dignity, respect, fairness, equality and independence.
Your teacher will show you one of the videos about human rights. In the box below, write the words used when referring to human rights.
