This week, I’m talking about a proposal for a new medical centre on the Gold Coast in Australia. 1. The new super modern medical centre is called East Coast Medical and it’s a very big centre.
2. ECM has another hospital in Sydney, but it hasn’t got one on the Gold Coast yet.
3. The group would like to open a new medical centre on the Gold Coast because there are lots of patients living in the town.
4. ECM wants good transport links to the capital so they want to build the new hospital near the highway.
5. There is a park on the land at the moment, but the council isn’t happy to sell.
6. Some people in Belton are happy about the plan, but even more people are unhappy.
7. Some local residents are not happy because the medical centre will take their natural space away.
8. But the new centre will bring many jobs to the town so unemployed people like the idea.
9. There is a meeting of the town council next week and the residents will discuss the plan.
10. They will probably agree to the plan and the ECM company will start building next year.

1. A: Could I ask you something? B: Sure, ask me. 2. A: Have you got a moment? B: Yes, no problem. 3. A: Writing our medical reports costs a lot of time. B: What do you mean? A: At the end of our day it’s a lot of work. That’s not very practical.
B: So what’s your idea? A: Why don’t we invest in tablet computers? We can save a lot of time. Do you see? B: OK. Let’s look into it.
