When a light bulb is turned on, electrical energy from the power supply changes to light energy and heat energy. Although the energy changes form, it remains throughout the process.
When energy is converted from one form to another, we say it has been conserved (keeps the same value). The principle of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but only converted from one form to another.
CONCENTRATE! Remember that there may be more than one type of energy present at any stage of an energy conversion. For example, when you strike a match the kinetic energy of moving the match and the chemical energy stored in the match are converted to light, heat and sound energy.

A dynamo is a device that converts mechanical kinetic energy into electrical energy. Very big dynamos are used to convert wind or water energy into electricity, while small dynamos are used on bicycle tyres to convert the kinetic energy of the wheel moving into electrical energy to power the lights.
