Method 1. Measure 150 cm3

• Tie back hair.
• Ensure the workspace is clear of flammable materials.
• Make sure equipment has cooled down before touching it.

2. Heat the beaker of water over a Bunsen burner on the tripod stand and wire gauze. Use the retort stand and clamp to hold the thermometer in the water.
3. Observe what happens to the water. Stir gently with the glass stirring rod at intervals. 4. When you observe a steady stream of bubbles, this temperature is the boiling point. 5. Record the temperature at which the water boils. 6. Repeat a number of times for accuracy.
