Chapitre 4 : Mes sentiments et mes opinions focus examen
Le format de l’examen The French Leaving Certificate Higher Level examination is divided into four parts:
Reading comprehension Written expression Oral (speaking) Aural (listening)
Les compréhensions écrites
The reading comprehensions consist of two parts, each of which is marked out of 60 – that’s 120 marks in total. Allow 30 minutes for each reading comprehension. ● The first reading comprehension is an article (a journalistic text). ● The second one is an extract from a book (a literary text).
For the literary text, ask yourself these questions to help you understand the context: Who is speaking?
Who is the person speaking to?
How many
characters are there?
Where is
the scene taking place, and when?
What are their relationships?
You don’t need to know every single word, but you should understand the gist of the text and develop good skills in finding answers to the questions.
The first five questions in the reading comprehension are in French. Question 6 is in English / Irish.
The golden rule is: if the questions are in French, answer in French; if the questions are in English, answer in English; if the questions are in Irish, answer in Irish.
