2. Underline the direct object and then replace it with the correct direct object pronoun.

The indirect object pronoun replaces the noun that is the indirect object of the verb in the sentence, e.g.: Je parle à mon copain

You need to choose the correct indirect object pronoun according to whether the indirect object is feminine, masculine, singular or plural. The indirect object pronoun goes before the verb, e.g.: Je donne un livre à mon frère

= to him / her / it

= to himself / herself / itself = to us = to you
= to them
Be careful – some verbs take an indirect object in French but not in English, e.g.: Je téléphone à ma sœur. I am phoning my sister.
