Nine beauty ingredient makers form Circular Cosmetic Collective

Nine personal care ingredient makers have formed the Circular Cosmetic Collective (CCC) to promote upcycled, biotech and circular solutions. The CCC comprises nine founding

members: COLIPI, Gaia Tech, Innomost, Kaffe Bueno, Lignopure, NoPalm Ingredients, Origin by Ocean, Swedish Algae Factory and The Upcycled Beauty Company. The CCC will support brands,

formulators and decision-makers seeking practical ways to integrate circular ingredients into product development and to communicate their value with confidence. Through their work, the CCC

Ecovia Bio secures funding to expand capacity

US biotech outfit Ecovia Bio has secured funding to support significant expansion of manufacturing capacity at its facility in Livonia, Michigan. Ecovia Bio hopes the expansion will help it to meet surging global demand for its AzuraBase and AzuraGel families of gamma polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA) and speciality biopolymer products across cosmetics, personal care, agriculture, and hygiene applications. With this investment, the

company projects that the facility will achieve full operational capacity by 2028. In addition, the evaluation of additional production facilities has begun to accommodate market demand beyond 2028 and secure

long-term supply chain security for global partners. Ecovia Bio says its biodegradable

γ-PGA technology enables personal care product manufacturers to replace persistent synthetic polymers like microplastics with a bio-based, fully biodegradable alternative that delivers equivalent or superior performance without environmental or health consequences. By scaling production of γ-PGA,

Ecovia Bio is empowering a global shift toward truly sustainable consumer products - addressing regulatory pressures, consumer demand for safer products, and the urgent need to protect human health and environmental integrity. The Series B funding round was led by Pointe Angels, an

by acting collectively,” says founding member Noomi Mikkelsen. “By standing together, we

are better positioned to support the industry’s transition towards circularity and to make circular ingredient solutions more accessible and easier to work with in practice.” The CCC will make its industry debut at in-cosmetics Global 2026, where it will be showcased within the new Upcycling Hub in the Sustainability Area. Visitors will be able to meet the

collective’s members and explore a range of circular ingredient technologies for beauty and personal care formulations.

CCUK launches non-UK affiliate membership

independent angel investor group based in the Grosse Pointe communities east of Detroit, Michigan. “We are excited to partner with

Pointe Angels,” said CEO Kousay Said. “This capital enables us to meet immediate demand from our cosmetics, personal care, and agricultural customers while establishing the infrastructure needed to serve the hygiene sector at industrial scale.”

The Green Chemist invites survey responses

Barbara Olioso, aka The Green Chemist, is inviting beauty industry professionals to respond to a quick online survey on the use of preservatives in personal care products at https://www. surveymonkey.com/r/GCPresv. The survey is designed to capture

how the preservative challenge is experienced and perceived across the supply chain — from formulators and R&D scientists to consultants, suppliers, and brand owners.

The questions cover how

industry professionals interpret ‘preservative-free’ claims, where they turn when selecting a preservation system, what is driving the shift away from Annex V actives, and how they think consumers understand - or misunderstand - what is on the label. “Cosmetic preservatives sit at

one of the most uncomfortable intersections in the beauty industry: the gap between what consumers

believe, what regulations require, and what formulators know,” said Olioso. “’Preservative-free’ or ‘free from’

is everywhere on development briefs. But what does it actually mean to the people who make these products — and to the people who buy them? Are formulators chasing a marketing trend, responding to genuine regulatory pressure, or navigating something far more nuanced?” she added.

Trade association Cosmetics Cluster UK (CCUK) has launched an affiliate membership scheme for organisations outside the UK. Affiliate membership will be granted to companies who demonstrate a serious interest in engaging with the UK cosmetic industry value chain. The membership fee is

£550/€650 per annum and all the benefits of a full paying CCUK membership are included. “Since we began Cosmetics

Cluster UK in 2020, we have required that members have a UK headquarters or office address, but we have been asked on many occasions by companies wishing to join our cluster who are from outside the UK but they currently have no UK representation,” said communications manager Maria Rowson.

“With that in mind, we

have introduced a new affiliate membership category, aimed at companies based in countries outside the UK, who have a significant interest in establishing a presence in the UK cosmetics market or connecting with businesses in the UK market as suppliers of goods or services,” she added.
