Van Mai 60 km Hilltribes of the North QVH Trekking amongst the hilltribes of Northern Vietnam
An exciting trek visiting remote tribal villages in the mountainous back country of Northern Vietnam. We stay in traditional village houses as we trek through the beautiful rice paddies of Sapa and Ban Lac, experiencing the culture, customs and cuisine of the friendly hilltribes. We also enjoy an overnight junk cruise around the towering limestone islands of Halong Bay.
12 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour in Hanoi. Days 2/3 Halong Bay Board a junk for a relaxing overnight cruise between the towering limestone islands. Stop to swim and visit caves. Optional walk for panoramic bay views. Return to Hanoi. Days 4/6 Mai Chau trek Staying in traditional stilt houses in Ban Lac Village, trek through the rice paddies of the Mai Chau Valley.

Experience the local customs, culture and home cooked cuisine of the White Thai tribes. Optional cycling. Catch a sleeper train north. Days 7/10 Sapa trek Take a tour of the mountain town. Spend two days trekking through the remote villages and wonderful scenery of the Hoang Lien Mountains. Stay in the homes of the Red Zao and visit the villages of the Tay and Xa Pho tribes.
Mai Chau Mai Chau Rest day Rest day Sapa
Optional bike ride through the Ma Tra Valley or trip to the Bac Ha tribal market. Take a sleeper train to Hanoi. Day 11 Hanoi Discover the ancient charm of this busy city. Day 12 Tour ends in Hanoi.
