Where have you been trekking? All over the UK, Morocco, Iceland and New Zealand.

Why do you enjoy travelling on Explore walking and trekking tours? Being a relative newcomer to Explore, my first ever tour was earlier this year to Morocco on the Winter Toubkal trek. It was great knowing that everything was taken care of and we’d get a good meal after each day’s trekking.

What is your favourite place to go walking (so far!)? It has to be New Zealand, followed closely by Iceland. In the UK the Lake District and Yorkshire are my favourite places.

Why is that your favourite? There is so much variety to New Zealand and the landscapes are so spectacular. Everything is incredibly well setup for hikers (aka trampers) over there; miles and miles of well-marked trails taking you in to the heart of what the country has to offer.

Where would you like to go trekking next? I’m currently working on a few ideas for my next trip, perhaps the Canary Islands, Lapland in winter and the GR20 in Corsica.

What is the best piece advice you can give to other trekkers? If you’re planning a multi-day trip, take the time to prepare and get out walking as much as you can beforehand.

Where have you been trekking? Annapurna and Everest regions in Nepal plus Sicily in Italy.

Why do you enjoy travelling on Explore walking and trekking tours? I love taking trekking tours with Explore; everything is so well organised from being woken in the morning by a smiling Sherpa with bed tea and watching the sunrise over the Annapurna ranges, to a day of beautiful walking and meeting children and elders in the local farming villages!

What is your favourite place to go walking (so far!)? Nepal on the Annapurna Panorama trek.

Why is that your favourite? I love Nepal; it is my favourite country. I love the people, the food, the mountains, the cities; Nepal has so much to offer. And as a walking/trekking destination, it doesn’t get better than the Himalaya! The Tour Leaders and Sherpa crew are a cut above the rest. I have done many trips with Explore and the Nepalese leaders win hands down in my eyes for their dedication to ensuring our groups get the very best. They make the holiday become a dream come true.

Where would you like to go trekking next? I would like to do the Annapurna Sanctuary tour and explore more of the Himalaya. I haven’t had enough of Nepal yet and feel I have so much more to explore.

What is the best piece advice you can give to other trekkers? Take talcum powder with you; when you only have a bowl of water to wash in for a week and your small trek towel gets damp, use the talc to help dry you. It makes you smell pretty clean even if you don’t feel it!

Where have you been trekking? Inca Trail (Peru), Lycian Way (Turkey), Nepal, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Oman.

Why do you enjoy travelling on Explore walking and trekking tours? The company of the group, the fact that everything is planned for you and by experts – no worries to distract you from the journey.

What is your favourite place to go walking (so far!)? I am almost always fondest of my last trek – so the volcanoes and rainforest of Guatemala at the moment.

Why is that your favourite? Clambering up high volcanoes, visiting indigenous villages by boat on Lake Atitlan and four days hiking through rainforest to the grand-daddy of all Mayan ruins, Tikal – simply fantastic!

Where would you like to go trekking next? The next one is already planned! I am going to the Amalfi Coast to combine our group tour (staying in Agritourismo accommodation) and one of our new self-guided walks.

What is the best piece advice you can give to other trekkers? Choose your boots and travelling companion wisely – make sure they are both broken-in!

Where have you been trekking? Inca Trail, Everest Region, Annapurnas, Kilimanjaro, Tour of Mont Blanc.

Why do you enjoy travelling on Explore walking and trekking tours? I love trekking and there is nothing better than sharing the mountain experience with others who share the same passion – hence walking as part of a small group is so amazing. Walking is great fun and I am so at home with the great outdoors – so camping for me is the best.

What is your favourite place to go walking (so far!)? There is nowhere I love trekking more than In Nepal.

Why is that your favourite? It is the combination of the most spectacular scenery in the world, some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met and certainly the best trekking food on record!

Where would you like to go trekking next? I always like to push myself – and now that I have been to the top of Kili - my opportunities to go higher are quite limited. But I’d really like to go back to Africa and look to do a challenging trek in the Simien Mountains in Ethiopia.

What is the best piece advice you can give to other trekkers? Never leave home without a nail brush and a head torch and plenty of memory for your camera.
