Walking in Andalucia’s undiscovered green oasis


On this self-guided walking holiday to Andalucia discover the mountainous area of Sierra de Grazelema. Explore the sculpted limestone hillsides and historic ‘pueblos blancos,’ white-washed local villages. Walk through olive groves, woods of cork oak trees and Spanish fi r forests and discover the Moorish town of Ronda, built on the sides of a deep gorge, united by a spectacular bridge.


8 day itinerary


Day 1 Your journey starts in Ronda, from where a taxi will transfer you to Grazelema, in the ‘Pueblos Blancos’, our base for three nights. Day 2 Benaocaz Walk through traditional farmland and evergreen oak woods to the historic, hillside ‘white village’ of Benaocaz, which dates back to Roman times. Transfer back to Grazelema. Day 3 Around Grazelema A choice of two short circular walks around the area. Day 4 Montejaque Taxi transfer to

Day 2: 4.5hrs Grazalema


Villaluenga del Rosario, known for its unique square bullring carved out of rock. From here walk down into the valley of Llanos del Rupublicano, where the river mysteriously disappears into a limestone sink. Hike uphill to the pretty town of Montejaque and continue to Banaojan our base for the next three nights. Day 5 River walk Take the train to Jimera de Libar for a scenic walk through the Rio Guadairo Valley back to Benaojan. Day 6 Cave paintings Hike to Cueva de la Pileta with prehistoric

cave paintings and unusual rock formations. Day 7 Ronda Walk along an ancient path to the historic Moorish town of Ronda. Walk along cobbled paths, through fi elds and farmland. See the spectacular bridge spanning a deep gorge that unites the two sides of the town. Day 8 Your journey ends in Ronda.
