This twin centre holiday combines walks in the beautiful Umbrian countryside with time in Italy’s incomparable capital, Rome. In Umbria we stay in the ancient walled town of Spello with views over the plains towards Perugia. Our hikes take us along the spectacular Ponte del Torri aqueduct near Spoleto, to the slopes of Mount Subasio and streets of St Francis’s Assisi. Ending our adventure in Rome, we take a walking tour with time left free for exploration of the city’s many sights.

Day 1 Join tour Rome airport; transfer to Spello in Umbria. Day 2 Bevagna Walk peaceful tracks and trails in the Umbrian Valley to the walled town of Bevagna. Day 3 Assisi Follow in pilgrims’ footsteps on the Via di Francesco, to Assisi on the slopes of Mount Subasio. Day 4 Montefalco
