Accommodation: 4 nights standard hotels. Meals: 4 breakfasts are included. Trekking details: On this journey you walk 34 km over 3 days (an average of 11 km per day) with the opportunity to extend your walk by 5 km on one day and 3 km on another day. Your route follows well marked footpaths and mule tracks. On two days there is an ascent and descent of around 300 m whilst on the last day it is a tougher 568 m descent.


Coastal walks along the Cinque Terre


A short self-guided walking holiday to enjoy hiking along the stunning coastal footpaths of the Ligurian Riviera where craggy cliffs plunge into an azure sea. You’ll ramble through lush Mediterranean vineyards and olive groves whilst inland there are dense pine and chestnut forests waiting to be discovered. Explore the picturesque villages of Bonassola and Monterosso, entering the magical land of the Cinque Terre where fi ve unique fi shing villages are set like gems along the jagged high cliff coast.


5 day itinerary


Day 1 Your journey starts in Monterosso where you spend the fi rst two nights. Day 2 Portovenere A short train ride takes you to Riomaggiore from where a path takes you along the edge of the mountain chain bordering the Cinque Terre region to Portovenere and its dramatic cliffs. You can choose to take either a bus and train back to Monterosso or take the ferry. Day 3 Walk to Levanto and Bonassola

Day 2: 6-8hrs


Gently climbing along a narrow footpath you contour through terraces and vineyards to Punta Mesco before descending to the stunningly located village of Levanto, a warren of narrow ancient lanes. You may decide to break for lunch in one of the many cafes before continuing along what was once a railway track, walking through tunnels and across bridges to the beach town of Bonassola, your destination for the next

two nights. Day 4 Bonassola to Deiva Marina This walk has fantastic views over the northern Ligurian coast as you pass through the hills of the Eastern Riviera. You return to Bonassola by train. Day 5 Your journey ends in Bonassola.
