Jebel Sahro is a region full of contrasts and attractive landscapes: mystic fl at-topped mountains, deep canyons, fertile valleys and oasis. On this trek we camp out under the stars, learn about the local Berber culture and discover the dramatic geology of the region. We also have the opportunity to experience the colourful city of Marrakech.

8 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour in Marrakech. Day 2 Foothills of Jebel Sahro Travel to Ouarzazate over Tizi n’Tichka pass, the highest mountain road in Morocco, then along ‘Route des Kasbah’ to the village of Tagdilte. Day 3 Desert campsite Meet the crew and our mules. Start our trek through the undulating arid landscape to our campsite at Almou n’Oughioul. Day 4 Dramatic rock formations Ascend ridge. Option to climb up to the summit of Kouaouch

Day 3: 5hr


(2592m) that dominates the massif of Jebel Sahro. Enjoy the views over to the Central High Atlas and the Dades Valley. Trek down to the Tasgdalte Tamjgalte plateau which displays the typical rock formations of Jebel Sahro. Overnight at campsite. Day 5 Afourar Gorge Follow the gorge to Id Bab n’ Ali. Discover rock pools and their ecosystems. Set up camp in the greener landscape of the valley. Option to walk to a waterfall. Day 6 Id Bab

n’ Ali Walk to the base of the rocky towers of Id Bab n’ Ali. Hike along the fertile Amguiss Valley to the settlement of Ighazioun n’Imlass and down to Handour. Day 7 Marrakech From Nokb, travel along the Draa Valley up to Ouarzazate and back to Marrakesh. Day 8 Tour ends in Marrakech.

Tour staff: Explore Tour Leader, cook driver(s), muleteer(s). Transport: Bus, minibus. Trekking details: This is a 4-day trek with between 4-7 hours walking each day. The terrain varies from mule tracks to mountain paths or dust roads, reaching an altitude of 2400m (or 2592m if summit Kouaouch). Mules are used to carry the luggage. Group size: Generally 10 - 16.
