Following in the footsteps of countless pilgrims since the 9th Century, we follow the legendary route to Santiago de Compostela - the resting place of Saint James, where we claim our pilgrims’ certifi cate. We walk along the most scenic sections between Leon and Santiago: across the high plains of the Castilian Meseta and into the Galician mountains. We discover Gothic cathedrals, pass through medieval villages and climb to the Iron Cross (1482m) along the way.
12 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour Asturias airport (Oviedo). Drive to Leon. Day 2 Leon Take a guided walk around the medieval city and visit its gothic cathedral. We collect our pilgrims’ passports and commence the trail at Hospital de Orbigo walking to Astorga, home to A ntoni G audi’s B ishops P alace. Day 3 Highest peak, Iron Cross Starting from Foncebadon we climb to the Iron Cross (1482m). Descend to Molinaseca and drive to Villafranca del Bierzo. Day 4 O Cebreiro Walk from Riutelan

Day 2: 4hrs Astorga
through the Galician mountains to the historic mountain village of O Cebreiro. Drive to Sarria. Option to visit Samos Monastary en route. Days 5/6 Galician Hills We pass the famous 100km marker as we continue walking through the undulating hills of Galicia Day 7 Melide Hike to the village of Melide, renowned for its delicious seafood, especially octopus. Day 8 Arzua Walk through oak and eucalyptus forests, and towns and villages to Arzua Day 9 A Rua Pass

through woodland, meadows, orchards and small villages Days 10/11 Santiago de Compostela Our fi rst view of Santiago Cathedral from Monte Gozo. Walk into the city to claim our pilgrim’s certifi cate. Time to explore the city’s magnifi cent architecture. Optional trip to Cape Finisterre. Day 12 Tour ends Asturias airport.
