Explore the mountain trails of Spain’s unspoilt Sierra de Aracena on this relaxed paced tour that uncovers rural Andalucia. Set amid a verdant and rolling landscape we enjoy scenic village to village walks along ancient drover routes. We also hike up to the summit of Cerro San Cristobal for spectacular views over the surrounding area. We stay in a traditional village house, experience rural Andalucian hospitality and enjoy delicious local cuisine.
8 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour Seville airport from where we drive to the village of Castano del Robledo near Aracena. Day 2 Castano Walk to Alajar: visit the historic shrine and spectacular viewpoint of the Pena de Arias Montano. Day 3 Three Villages Explore the villages of Navahermosa, Valdelarco and Galaroza on the lesser-visited northern side of the Natural Park. Day 4 High Level Route Climb to the summit of Cerro San Cristobal and walk to the historic village of Almonaster. Admire views over the Sierra and visit the 9th century mosque. Day 5 Free Day Optional activities include: horse riding, mountain biking or a day trip to historic Seville. Day 6 Jabugo Walk

to the village of Jabugo - famous for producing some of the world’s fi nest cured Serrano ham. Explore the towns of Santa Ana, Aguafria and Los Romeros. Day 7 Riverside Picnic Walk to Cortelazor and enjoy lunch at a riverside picnic area. Return to Castano. Day 8 Drive to Seville airport where the tour ends.

Our guesthouse, Posada del Castano, is an original traditional village house and has retained many of its original features, including rustic terracotta fl oor tiles and chestnut roof beams. There are eight simple rooms, seven with en suite facilities. Communal areas include an upstairs lounge, a terrace and a balcony with views over the village to the hills beyond.
