Walking amongst the dramatic peaks and canyons of the little known Picos de Europa
This week-long trekking adventure takes us into the beautiful high mountain scenery of Picos de Europa National Park. We explore the area in depth with walks in the unspoilt and wild landscapes of the western, central and eastern massifs. We base ourselves for six nights in Sotres - the highest inhabited village in the Picos. This tour showcases some of Spain’s fi nest scenery and includes a hike to the base of the iconic peak of Naranjo de Bulnes. On a trip highlight we trek along cliff-cut pathways through the imposing Cares Gorge - over 1000m deep and twelve kilometres long.

Day 1 Join tour Asturias airport and drive to Benia de Onis. Day 2 Western Massif Visit Covadonga - site of the fi rst victory over the Moors in the 8th century. Hike to Ordiales viewpoint for a memorable introduction to our surroundings. Drive to Sotres our mountain village base. Day 3 Picos National Park A spectacular ridge walk gives us commanding views of all three

massifs - eastern, western and central. Day 4 Naranjo de Bulnes Drive to Pandebano. Trek to Vega de Urriello Refuge at the foot of the iconic Pico de Naranjo. Day 5 Balcony Walk Hike to Fuentesoles Pass and descend to the hamlet of Treviso. Follow an old mining track to Urdon Gorge and continue along mule trails. Drive to Sotres. Day 6 Cares Gorge Travel to Poncebos
and walk through the imposing Cares Gorge. Day 7 Eastern Massif Trek from El Teju to Caseton de Andara. Enjoy a picnic on the prairie. Traverse Macondiu Mountain and descend to Jito de Escarandi. Day 8 Drive to Asturias airport where the tour ends.
