Integrated Exercise Programming: From Evidence to Practice CHAPTER 11 Make It Real
Studying concepts and terms is a critical aspect of learning. However, personalizing the information contained within the textbook as it relates to personal training is a cornerstone for the successful achievement of certified status. This section provides you an opportunity to examine how the information you are learning relates to your future role and career as an exercise professional.
1. Jamie is 45 years old and has not been performing any moderate- or vigorous-intensity physical activity for the past 10 years. Jamie has been cleared by his physician to begin an exercise program and his preparticipation health screening indicates that he can begin exercising at a moderate intensity, as tolerated. Jamie works a job requiring him to be seated for most of the day and has expressed an interest in becoming more physically active after returning from a family vacation where he missed out on several family activities because he could not keep up. Jamie would like to work his way up toward meeting the public health recommendations for cardiorespiratory exercise and muscular training and has hired you for personal training. You have met with Jamie several times and determined that his exercise journey will begin in the first phase of both the Cardiorespiratory and Muscular Training phases of the ACE IFT Model.
Using the ACE IFT Model Exercise Programming Template, create an initial exercise program for Jamie:
