COUNTER EQUIPMENT 


Space has always been a major challenge in foodservice kitchens. With space at a premium, many operators are turning to compact gas counter equipment to maximize output within a smaller footprint and still add to their arsenal of cooking appliances and menu offerings.


Today, most standard-size gas-fired equipment is also available in countertop models. In many cases, these smaller models can provide full-size equipment performance in a more compact design package. Gas countertop equipment also typically costs less than full-size models and uses less energy, saving money on operating costs.


Gas counter equipment is typically mounted on stainless steel tables or countertops. This opens up space below for hot food holding equipment, refrigerated storage, or extra shelving for plates, supplies and ingredients needed near the cook line.


As a general rule, gas-fired counter equipment isn’t as deep (front to back) as floor model equivalents. The unit width is also generally less which means fewer running feet of ventilation hood are required.


Counter equipment can increase menu variety without requiring a major kitchen space commitment. For example, want to add takeout to your menu? A gas countertop mini- range suite that includes a gas hot plate, griddle, and fryer will only require 48 to 60 of counter space and can expand takeout options. With the addition of a countertop convection oven or combi, you can bake or reheat muffins and breads. If scratch cooking isn’t practical, counter equipment can be used to reconstitute vendor prepared foods and mixes. Gas-fired countertop steamers and combis will reheat foods without drying them out.


Gas counter equipment will give operators the flexibility to keep up with trends and match their cooking equipment to changing production requirements.





 

Lang’s ChefSeries countertop line offers an optional on-demand burner technology that turns on individual burners when a pot or pan is placed on the top grate. Inside the high performance star-pattern burners is a shiny metal ball that protrudes just above the top grates and triggers burner ignition when a pan lowers the ball. On-Demand burners reduce wasted energy and simplify a la carte cooking.
