PROGRAMME AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Association for Project Management Group Certificate and Diploma in Project and Programme Management

The Diploma in Project and Programme Management (PPM) has been developed jointly by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the APM Group (APMG). The CMI is the UK’s leading management body whose main objective is to increase the skills and capability of all managers in the UK. APMG is a certification body accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for Office of Government Commerce’s (OGC) Best Practice PPM processes, namely PRINCE2®, Managing Successful Projects (MSP®), and the Management of Risk (MoR™).

The Diploma, a Level 5 qualification, is equivalent to a degree and consists of 12 units, eight of which are core units and four optional. Two of the optional units relate to Programme Management Initiation Planning and Control and the other two optional units relate to Project Management Initiation Planning and Control.

As well as offering the Diploma in PPM we are also able to offer the intermediate qualification of the Certificate in PPM, also awarded by CMI. This can be gained either separately or as part of the programme through to the end Diploma. The Certificate level follows exactly the same syllabus except it only requires four units to be completed.

PRINCE2® is a Registered Trade Mark of the OGC in the UK and other countries. MSP® is a Registered Trade Mark of the OGC. MoR™ is a Registered Trademark and a Registered Community Trademark of the OGC.

Programme and

Project Sponsorship

The professional Programme and Project Sponsorship (PPS) qualification is based on the Office of Government Commerce’s (OGC) Best Practice Guidance.

The programme combines leadership ability with Programme and Project Management (PPM) skills.

This qualification certifies that you are equipped with the knowledge and skills to lead a successful delivery of a policy or strategy; to lead an initiative or deliver to a target.

The PPS syllabus has been split into four separate units:
- the role of the sponsor
- the sponsor working with people
- identifying and establishing a programme/project
- the delivery journey.

The syllabus is methodology independent and uses generic terms as far as possible. However, it is assumed that candidates are familiar with OGC Best Practice Guidance.
