As Employee Engagement is becoming a focal point for staff development this new programme is aimed at administrators and staff at an equivalent level. The programme will assist you to identify the talents and skills you can bring to the team to ensure performance success. During the event you will look at how you can re-negotiate your role within the team for the benefit of the team and your personal development, get your voice heard and coach others, understand the dynamics of team development and how you can contribute to the process and work collaboratively so that team performance targets are achieved.

PUBLIC SERVICE QUALIFICATION

Foundation Degree in Government

A work-based degree

The Foundation Degree in Government (FDiG) is the premier foundation degree for the Civil Service. No formal qualifications are needed as your experience and workplace learning is taken into account. It’s a prestigious, highly portable qualification in its own right and an added benefit is that it can be progressed to an honours degree with further study. Developed jointly with government departments, the National School and the provider universities, it meets the needs of employers and students in central government and covers the Professional Skills for Government (PSG) competency framework. Who is it for?

It’s for experienced staff at EO/HEO grades, including professional and technical staff at equivalent grades. Many foundation degree students are over 25 and had never previously thought of gaining a professional qualification. What does it cover?

It’s designed to integrate your learning on the job with academic assignments and assessment which will help you reflect and learn from your experience while improving your performance.

The programme builds up your academic skills and professional competence through four sections and offers the opportunity to submit claims for prior learning - which can speed your progress.

The later modules can ‘wrap around’ your personal needs or be tailored by your employer working with the university.

– Working with people

Section 2: Underpinning Skills

– Delivering results
– Organisational change
– Resource management
– Managing and leading people

Section 3: PSG Core Skills

Students identify the core skills they need to develop and negotiate modules that are appropriate to their area of work

Section 4: PSG Professional Skills

Students build up a profile for their professional career in the Civil Service

What does it involve?

Most of your learning is self-directed and on the job. The programme starts with two one-day induction workshops (usually in London) where you meet your tutors and fellow students, start work on the first module and are introduced to the web-based system which you will use to manage your work, submit your assignments and keep in touch with your tutors and fellow students.

LIFE, CAREER AND CONFIDENCE

Transitions in Career and Life Development

For anyone who is considering their life and career direction or who is considering options including retirement.

By the end of the programme you will have: explored your view of your changing self over a period of time; examined your values, beliefs and personality; looked at updating your communication style; explored how to identify your unique selling point; developed more confidence and a sense of well being; created a vision for the future.

There will be opportunities to attend workshops on:

- the implications of retirement
- image management
- interview practice
- well being
- posture, including the Alexander Technique and voice projection.

In these challenging times you will be able to re-think your options in the light of organisational objectives; gain confidence in your abilities and focus on your development opportunities. This is likely to lead to greater motivation and engagement.

Life, Career and Pre-Retirement Coaching

Life, career and pre-retirement coaching will enable you to identify your core values and analyse areas of fulfilment and of dissatisfaction in your career and personal life and to agree life goals and develop effective strategies to enable you to realise your potential in all areas of your life.

Our coaches are highly-skilled facilitators who will use a range of techniques to explore your needs, vision and values, and develop strategies to enable you to live the life you want. You will be supported to identify, implement and sustain positive changes within your life.

We can also offer the life, career and pre-retirement package as an organisational intervention to support outplacement activity, helping through difficult changes such as outsourcing or redundancy.

This is a personal service and dates are arranged to suit you.
