PROGRAMME AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Professional managers use project and programme management concepts and tools to deliver change and business benefits.

Project management is now recognised as the key competence for achieving pre-determined goals within time and cost constraints. Project management involves starting with clear objectives and systematically organising, planning and controlling the work to achieve them.

Perhaps the most obvious programme and project management (PPM) challenge is to find the right approaches for each particular situation and, increasingly, organisations are looking to equip their people in this regard – guided by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC), which develops and disseminates best practice.

The National School has contributed to this process, and all of our activities in support of PPM are underpinned by the work of OGC.

We offer a number of qualifications in PPM:

- APM Group’s Managing Successful Programmes Foundation Certificate;
- APM Group’s Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner Certificate;
- PRINCE2® Foundation Certificate;
- PRINCE2® Practitioner Certificate;
- Association for Project Management APMP Certificate;
- Programme and Project Support Office Certificated (Foundation);
- Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Diploma and Certificate in PPM.

We can offer the new APM Group’s Programme and Project Sponsorship (PPS) qualification for Senior Responsible Owners (SROs).
