Effective Briefing

This programme aims to improve your skills in presenting briefings (including submissions) both in written and oral form, and comprises discussion and examination of good practice, followed by practical exercises. Effective Speech Writing Workshop
This workshop is for anyone who writes occasional speeches or who wants to brush up their speechwriting skills, but who cannot afford the time to attend our two-day programme (see Effective Speech Writing (EFSP) on page 24). It teaches and demonstrates techniques for writing speeches that are persuasive and memorable and, above all, sound human.

Communicating in a Policy Environment
For those on the Fast Stream or other development programmes or more senior/experienced staff who want to develop their written or oral communication skills.
This highly participative programme will help you develop your confidence and the specific communication skills needed to work effectively in key Civil Service posts, including oral briefing and writing submissions and lines for Ministers or senior officials. You will receive feedback on the work you produce in practical exercises covering different aspects of communications. This links with Communicating with Impact (COM1) (see page 56) where you will receive feedback on your personal performance as a communicator.
