One of Southampton’s most iconic buildings is home to one of the city’s most popular restaurants. The latest incarnation of the Royal Pier is as an exclusive Thai eatery – Kuti’s. The elegant 1930s exterior has been vividly restored, while inside is stylish; decked out in contemporary colours and cutting-edge design. Alfresco dining is available during summer on the terrace overlooking Southampton Water.
The moment you step inside you are made to feel welcome; service is unobtrusive and the waiting staff are eager to please. The restaurant’s young and innovative manager, Riaz, is keen to offer something more than fine dining and puts on regular theme nights and events to celebrate Thai cuisine.
The outstanding à la carte menu, served upstairs with wonderful waterside views, includes a range of the chef’s signature dishes as well as an extensive choice of Thai classics. Every dish highlights the commitment towards fresh, fragrant, flavourful food. The seafood phad cha and Thai-style roasted duck were sensational, particularly with steamed coconut rice. For those with a sweet tooth, traditional Thai desserts are less than £5.
Open: Mon-Sun noon- 2.30pm, 6pm-late
With a downstairs bar and buffet area being the perfect option for larger groups, this exciting member of the Kuti’s family has fast become one of the premier places to be on a night out on the south coast.
