 Location 24 Jewry Street, Winchester, SO23 8SB t: 0844 683 6673 w: www.porterhouserestaurant.co.uk e: info@porterhouserestaurant.co.uk

A steakhouse to bypass the gluttonous for the gourmet, only the very best grass-fed Argentinean beef makes its way through the doors of the Porterhouse. Visitors here return over and over again to delight in the juicy, melt-in-the- mouth steaks, unsurpassed in the area. Trust me, when you have experienced this exquisitely turned out steakhouse, smelled the sizzling aromas emanating from the open kitchen and tucked into one of their tenderloin steaks, you will never look back.

Choose from an abundance of quality cuts, including T-bone and fillet, or indulge in one of the popular house specialities – the pan-fried sea bass with Mediterranean potato salad and grilled trio of filet mignon, rack of lamb and chicken breast are just some of the highlights. The ingredients and presentation may be of the highest standard yet

Open: Sun-Thurs noon-10.30pm; Fri & Sat noon-11pm

there is no skimping when it comes to portions, but if you do have space for dessert these are just as divine, with pistachio ice cream and baked cheesecake both making an appearance.

During the day a tasty menu served from noon until 6pm offers the same fabulous standard of food. Exotic teriyaki beef skewers and delicate cod loin atop mashed potatoes are among a range of other delicious combinations. Make sure you keep an eye out for the special offers – just another reason to make this restaurant a firm favourite.

As you cross the threshold of Ricky’s Steakhouse at The Sun Inn there are some real surprises in store. The inn boasts an all-American theme, which immediately gets guests talking, and an inviting atmosphere that ensures everyone feels at ease. Visual tributes to the States abound – think Marilyn Monroe, Rodeo Drive and The Rat Pack – and there’s a popcorn machine in the bar.

We sat in ‘Times Square’, surrounded by clocks of all shapes and sizes, and perused a menu which included starters such as flavoursome New England clam chowder and hot, sticky buffalo wings. Main courses took the form of succulent locally sourced steaks, sizzling fajitas, whopping American-style burgers and huge racks of ribs. Quintessentially Yankee desserts included a stunning key lime pie, cheesecakes and a huge toffee popcorn sundae. We also took a peek at the lunchtime menu, which was full of lighter snacks, varied sandwiches and an American rump steak brunch. If you’re after great-quality steaks grilled to perfection and served up in the ambience of a smart American steakhouse, then look no
