 Location The Montagu Arms Hotel, Beaulieu, New Forest, SO42 7ZL t: 0844 683 1672 w: www.montaguarmshotel.co.uk e: reservations@montaguarmshotel.co.uk

Dining at the Michelin-starred Terrace Restaurant (now the highest-rated restaurant in the New Forest and one of only four Michelin-starred restaurants in Hampshire) is what makes a visit to The Montagu Arms Hotel a truly memorable experience. The restaurant pays homage to both tradition and innovation, offering a variety of delectable dishes in a distinctly sophisticated oak-panelled setting, with views over the picturesque English garden. Serving imaginative menus, which are essentially British with a French influence, The Terrace’s dining options range from great-value two-course lunches at just £19, to a gourmet dining experience – the six-course tasting menu.

Head chef Matthew Tomkinson, who won the prestigious Roux Scholarship in 2005 and gained a Michelin star at The Montagu Arms, uses only the finest quality seasonal ingredients which are, as far as possible, local, free-range and organic. The exemplary standard of award-winning cuisine and fine wines has been reflected by the accolades The Montagu Arms has received – it was voted ‘Hampshire Restaurant of the Year’ by Which? and was recently listed in The T

elegraph’s top 50 summer restaurants in Britain.

The Terrace Restaurant is well known for its extensive wine list, which includes organic, un-oaked prestigious wines and Champagnes. The sommelier is on hand to help suggest the perfect accompaniment to your meal.

Try an afternoon tea at The Terrace Restaurant – now a member of the prestigious Tea Guild. Afternoon tea in such an elegant English setting is a ritual not to be missed. Relax on one of the comfy sofas on a chilly winter afternoon by the roaring fire or, if the sun is shining, the gardens are the ideal place to unwind. Enjoy a selection of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones with heaps of New Forest jam and luscious clotted cream, all complemented by a choice of teas and coffee. Look out for some significant changes – further development of the kitchen garden will bring some fresh but familiar changes to an already superb menu. However, you should already have all the incentive you need to visit this excellent restaurant.
