£25 Il Palio 2

 Location Station Approach, Brockenhurst, SO42 7TW t: 0844 683 6362 e: palio2pizza@gmail.com

For authentic Italian cooking in the New Forest it’s hard to beat Il Palio 2. Housed in a renovated railway shed, the interior of this restaurant is rustic and eclectic, with a stunning, marble-floored conservatory at the back – perfect in summer or for special events. Alex Capozza took over the business from his father two years ago. With his natural warmth and infectious laugh, he continues the tradition of treating their customers like part of the family. The menu offers a wide selection of classic starters and mains, as well as seasonal specials. Pizza and pasta are priced under £10 and succulent meat and seafood dishes are mostly around £15. All portions are generous and make use of the best of Italian and local produce. We finished our wonderful meal with zabaglione, a light Italian custard, prepared at our table by Alex. It is the personal touches like this that ensure customers return time and time again.
