TOTAL LICENSING
NUMBERJACKS ENDS ITV CONTRACT
ITV Global Entertainment and Open Mind Productions Ltd recently an-
nounced that Open Mind’s property Numberjacks would not be extended
beyond the term of the current agreement - with licensing and marketing
rights to be managed by Open Mind with immediate effect.
ITV secured the UK representation rights to Numberjacks from Open Mind
in 2006 and have since overseen a licensing program that includes almost 20
licensees producing around 150 consumer product lines.
“We’re very excited to have the opportunity to take the Numberjacks brand
forward in the UK” commented Open Mind’s Commercial Director Nick
Underwood. “But, we do want to thank ITV for the work and effort put into
the property by the many people who have worked on Numberjacks over
the past few years. The property is now firmly established with UK consum-
ers as a trusted brand with strong educational values so, with a second series
on the way, this is a nice position for us to take forward”.
ITV will remain involved with the property through ITV Home Entertain-
ment who have sold through in excess of 150,000 units of Numberjacks
DVD product in the UK since first launching the brand in 2007. Number-
jacks now airs in over 45 markets around the world and a second series is
currently in production and due for delivery in September 2009. Open Mind
Productions work with licensing agents in various markets as well as handling
licensing matters directly in Australia.
BEANSTALK LICENSE LEE COOPER
Lee Cooper, the English lifestyle brand, recently announced its partnership
with The Beanstalk Group to develop its international licensing program.
Beanstalk’s initial focus will be assisting Lee Cooper in developing its
apparel and denim lifestyle business in Russia, Poland and the Baltic States.
Ciarán Coyle, Beanstalk’s Managing Director, said, “Beanstalk is proud
to be joining forces with one of the most respected denim companies
in Europe. Lee Cooper has already established a sound reputation in
the region and offers significant opportunities for further extension
through its creative and trend-setting products. We are looking forward
to building the brand further in these significant emerging markets.”
The partnership between Lee Cooper and Beanstalk represents an
important step in realising the strategy of Lee Cooper CEO Stefaan Le
Clair to expand the brand in the global marketplace. “Our vision is to bring
the company from a denim-based brand into a denim lifestyle brand,” he
said. “We are excited to be extending the reach of the brand into Russia
and Eastern Europe, with Beanstalk’s help.”
Founded in 1908, Lee Cooper is the oldest jeans company in Europe. As
the original and first British denim brand, Lee Cooper works with top
international designers to create distinctive products that epitomise the
brand. Lee Cooper designs clothes on the leading edge of trends, whilst
always remaining true to its heritage.
