Another key highlight of 2014 is the release of Shaun the Sheep


by a heavyweight media campaign that incudes TV, press and digital. The new range will offer fans mini figures, mini vehicles, playsets and plush. The brand’s first touring stage show opened in


October 2012 to positive reviews and played to an audience of over 128,000 people across the UK through to Summer 2013 with plans in the pipeline to tour again in 2015. Over £1m worth of books have been sold in the UK by Penguin Books, two apps have been released to date by P2 Games with total app downloads surpassing 120,000, eOne DVD sales have now reached over a quarter of a million copies, Redan’s stand alone bi-weekly magazine sells almost 30,000 copies a month, and episodes of the show have been downloaded more than 70,000 times on iTunes since January 2012. Overseas the brand is rapidly gaining momentum and a consumer products programme is set to roll out this year in Australia and Spain where the show has become a ratings hit. Toy partners Big Balloon and Bizak will distribute the Character Options range at launch.


Tickety Toc will see an increased presence at retail in the UK this year as phase two of product roll-out begins. Lines rolling out from Q2 include the wooden toy line from Kidztation, apparel from Blues Clothing, accessories from VMC and Hallmark greetings cards. Other categories on-shelf from the second quarter will include stationery and arts and crafts from International Greetings, lunchboxes and tableware from Zak and bags, luggage and umbrellas from Trademark Collections. Footwear from William Lamb will follow from Q3. The first standalone Tickety Toc magazine from Signature Publishing will be on-shelf from Summer 2014.


For JCB, My 1st JCB takes centre stage with the


release of new characters, assets, products and licensing partners. The brand has made major inroads into the children’s apparel sector in recent months. New trend-led designs will be showcased including outerwear, footwear and accessories. The JCB licensing programme now has over 50 licensees and almost half of these focus exclusively on the My 1st

has launched new toys and new publisher Igloo Books has unveiled books featuring Joey JCB and his construction friends.


Shaun the Sheep, Aardman’s TV series, is recognised the world over for its slapstick humour, distinctive look and strong, quirky characters, and enjoyed across multiple media platforms. Now in its fourth season, which airs on CBBC from January with further new episodes released later in the year, Shaun the Sheep is broadcast in 170 territories around the world, and has over 3m fans on Facebook. A publishing partnership with Walker Books will see the new children’s fiction series Tales from Mossy Bottom Farm launch next year along with a comprehensive global live events programme for the brand. The brand also has an extensive merchandising


programme that is set to cover 40 countries by 2015, and over 140 licensees are currently representing the property worldwide. Products will extend across the core categories of toys, games, plush, apparel, stationary and back to school. Moving into 2015 to celebrate the Rugby World Cup being held in the UK in September, Shaun the Sheep will be starring in joint licensing initiative with Elite Sports Properties which will include a brand new rugby capsule-style guide, featuring Shaun and the flock in their own Rugby World Cup 2015 kit. Autumn/Winter 2014 will see the introduction of a new Shaun the Sheep Clay Buddies range from Giromax, and Rainbow Designs continues to expand the plush range in the run-up to the movie release in Spring 2015. the Thomas & Friends direct-to-DVD feature- length special Tale of the Brave, which will have a high-profile blue carpet premiere and an extensive range of tie-in products including toys, puzzles, publishing and apparel.


BBC Worldwide UK joined up with Golden Bear Toys earlier this year to be its master toy partner on a new range of CBeebies toys launching in Autumn/Winter 2014. CBeebies is already a multi award-winning brand that extends across television, magazines, live events, books, music, a website, apps and a new themed area at Alton Towers (CBeebies Land opens in Spring 2014). The first CBeebies toy range consists of eight collectable small plush toys, each with sounds and a feature plush that plays a lullaby and glows in different colours.


Mike the Knight continues into 2014 with brand new episodes, introducing new characters and locations, due to air on CBeebies in the Spring. The highlight of the year will be the release of the first feature-length outing for Mike the Knight, Journey to Dragon Mountain, which will be accompanied by a range of tie-in products. Mike the Knight will also be tackling a series of missions at special locations across the country.
