grahambrennan@hotmail.co.uk The newly formed Epoch Making Toys will be showcasing the iconic Sylvanian Families brand as well as Aquabeads and Charmies. New for 2014, Sylvanian
Families, the collectible range of animal family characters and detailed homes, will have additional play value through connectability. This feature will allow homes to interlock to create larger dwellings and to also connect together in different ways with shops and restaurants to create a Sylvanian world. Sylvanian Families Cosy Cottage will be launched as the starter home to begin a collection. The first floor of the cottage can be removed to extend the ground floor play area which can be filled with furniture to create a home. The set includes the Freya Chocolate Rabbit sister, a bed, table and chairs, oven, sink unit and accessories. Once the starter home is filled with figures and furniture, it can be connected to Beachwood Hall for an even larger dwelling by interlocking the homes. Beechwood Hall has two working lights and opens up to reveal five rooms. It has a balcony on the first floor and a reversible piece for the ground floor to make more home space or a garden area. The new Nursery and Professional themes will expand the Sylvanian world. Babies will be able go straight from new Double Decker Nursery Bus into the Forest
Nursery, for drawing and playing. Poorly Sylvanians will be able to visit the new Country Doctor Clinic, and the set can sit on top of the cottage alongside the shops and restaurants that can also connect together. The connectability feature will allow children to customise their very own Sylvanian world by trying out their own building ideas, adding additional play value. The company will also be highlighting its arts and crafts products such as the new Aquabeads Jewel bead range, including the Double Pen Set. It includes the multicolour bead pen, which holds up to 12 colours of beads, allowing children to simply twist the top to select the bead colour and then press the button to release the bead onto the template. The new products will be launched at Toy Fair and will be supported with an extensive marketing plan involving TVRs, online campaigns and consumer and trade magazine presence.

New additions for the Primary Science range includes the Primary Science ViewScope to safely put a classic ‘real’ science tool into the littlest hands. A truly child friendly microscope with a soft eyepiece, simple magnification and a clear case for viewing specimens. Kids can strike gold with the new Primary Science Metal Detector including an adjustable, grippy handle and colourful design. Great for detecting metal in a sand table, at the beach or underground. Finally, the Primary Science Colour Mixer lets kids mix up some colour for their next science experiment. The divided flask allows for two chambers of coloured liquid, and swirly straw provides an exit route for the new, mixed colour. Just flip it over, and out it goes.
