T

he Tamagotchi Friends Digital Friend comes in six different designs and encourages kids to nurture their Tamagotchi characters and to keep them alive for as long as possible. The technology

development sees the incorporation of short- range communication, similar to that used in smart phones, where Tamagotchiscan be bumped together to increase their best friend loyalty meter, exchange gifts and also send text messages to each other. This interaction and play pattern is the key focus of the TV advertising campaign that is running all Spring and delivering in excess of 1000 TVRs. A striking egg-shaped FSDU and in-store posters are also available and plans are underway to implement more promotional activity around the Easter holiday period. A new wave of designs will also be unveiled in the Summer, with a refresh to the loaded games, plus there will be an extended toy line on display at Toy Fair so visitors can see the Tamagotchi characters in collectable figure format and within a Dream Town playset environment. As the master toy partner for Power Rangers since its inception in 1994, Bandai is once again working with Nickelodeon for the launch of the new series Super Megaforce this Summer. In these new episodes the Power Rangers receive special morphers and keys that allow them to morph into any team of Rangers from the past. Highlights of the supporting toy line include the new scale 12.5cm articulated Rangers with weapons from past and present, and the 16cm Double Action figures. New items will be added to the Zord Builder system including the Legendary Megazord, plus to become a Power Ranger fans will need a Legendary Morpher. Press the numbers to use in communication mode or insert one of the keys to activate light and sounds. It will also recognise other Ranger keys from 20 different Power Ranger series. Additional Ranger keys are sold in special series themed packs as well as being included in selected products across the toy line. Bandai will continue to support Power Rangers with heavyweight TV, PR and retailer activity. New to the boys’ portfolio this year are two

brands that will be TV driven thanks to new series going on air this Spring. Firstly, Bandai has just launched a bright and colourful range of figures, mini plush and vehicles for Pac-Man to support the new Ghostly Adventures TV series on Disney XD. Hot on its heels will be Digimon Fusion on CiTV, which follows the adventures of lead character Mikey and his friends in a digital world where they team up with their new Digital Monsters or ‘Digimon’ friends before their world

is deleted. The supporting toy line includes collectable figures and Mikey’s iconic Fusion Loader which recognises different cards using touch through technology. When children activate the cards they will unlock special messages and create show fusions. The evergreen Ben 10 completes the boys’ line-up as it enters its eighth year. 40 new Ben 10 Omniverse episodes have been commissioned, starting with Ben 10 ‘Galactic Monsters’ airing first on Cartoon Network at Easter and then free to air on CiTV from the Autumn. The Alien Collection and Feature Figures will see new ‘Galactic Monsters’ styles introduced and a new Omnitrix is also in development for the Autumn. Bandai is also looking forward to unveiling a

new creative dolls line inspired by Harumika. Locksies is a delightful collection of dolls and playsets where budding fashion designers are invited to design outfits and decorate rooms using the same lock and style technique as Harumika. They fix the materials and ribbons
