What’s it about?
There has been huge growth in the number of people and businesses using the internet in the last decade. These users expect high quality interactive material to be delivered over the web, including graphics, animation, sound and movie clips.
This programme will teach you the skills you need to design, produce and deliver websites, web applications and smartphone applications, and be ahead of the game in a rapidly changing area.
What will I learn?
You will cover three main areas: design, implementation and delivery.
The design strand concentrates on good design practice, including aesthetics, human-computer interfaces, systems analysis and design methodologies.
Implementation focuses on web page design, web application development, (including data-driven websites), multimedia development, and how to produce and manipulate audio and video clips.
Delivery looks at how web-based information can be delivered to a user. It covers wireless and wire-based communication systems and security issues on the internet.
In your final year you will complete an individual project in an area of your choice as well as looking at advanced web application development, multimedia applications and networking solutions.

PLACEMENT YEAR
How will I learn? There is a high level of practical work associated with this programme, with many of the modules being taught in a computer room, laboratory or studio. You will also have some lectures and tutorials.
Can I get work experience?
You will get the opportunity to take an industrial placement year between your second and final years of study. Your industrial placement can be taken in the UK, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland or Spain. Teaching is primarily in English and all EU exchanges are supported by an Erasmus grant. This allows you to gain practical experience and apply the skills you have learnt in a real business environment. It is highly valued by prospective employers.
Where can I get a job?
There is increasing demand for graduates who can design and implement interactive multimedia and web-based systems. When you graduate you will have all these skills and can expect to work as a web designer or developer in companies, consultancies and the public sector. A number of graduates have started their own web design businesses, while others have gone on to take postgraduate qualifications.
