What’s it about?
The programme enables qualified social workers to develop the in-depth knowledge and skills associated with competence in the area of adult or child care. Our aim is to develop well-rounded practitioners who are confident working in inter-professional and inter-agency contexts. You will be able to demonstrate competence in a range of key areas including direct work with service users, families and carers, self-management, supervision and mentoring, and practice education.

Adult Care modules include: • Consolidation • Critical Reflective Practice • Working with Adults • Assessment and Intervention • Collaborative Practice • Enabling Learning
Child Care modules include: • Consolidation • Critical Reflection, Policy and Research in Contemporary Child Care
• Working with Children and Young People • Assessment and Intervention • Developing Collaborative Working in Child Care
• Enabling Learning How will I learn?
You will learn through lectures, group work and independent study. Attendance is one day a week, each module runs for six weeks.

Typical entry requirements
Specific requirements: Qualified social workers who are registered with the GSCC and hold a Diploma in Higher Education (DipSW, CQSW, CSS or recognised equivalent qualification)
You will normally require two years post-qualification experience
