Acoustics, What’s it about?
The audio and video industry requires staff with a diverse knowledge of both technical information and the operational characteristics of equipment. The aim of this programme is to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to work in the modern digital media industry.
What will I learn?
The programme is evenly split between production and theory elements. In the production part of the programme, you will cover both audio and video production. This also includes significant hands-on experience in our purpose-built facilities.
By the end of the programme you will have a broad knowledge base across a range of convergent media types, including audio production, sound engineering, animation, television and web technology. The programme aims to provide you with both operational skills to generate and produce digital media content and the technical knowledge needed to deliver this content to an audience.

Audio and Video BSc (Hons) Professional Sound and Video Technology
How will I learn? In addition to lectures and tutorials, the majority of your time will be spent undertaking a range of project work both on your own and as part of a small project group. Much of the programme is delivered in a production environment. You will spend a lot of your time in our analogue and digital recording studios, our music technology rooms and our digital video editing suite.
Can I get work experience?
You will be encourage to take an industrial placement year which can be spent in the UK or Europe. Placements involve broadcast, audio and video production, new media and audio manufacturing companies.
Where can I get a job?
You can expect to follow a career in broadcast engineering, technical operations in either sound or television, multimedia production and other technical posts such as technical sales and studio engineering.
