Furthermore, long-standing employees need periodic (some annual) updates and refreshers, even for information they have learned in the past, to increase motivation and reinforce work practices. All training should be documented. Documentation may be required by health inspectors or surveyors. It also helps in keeping track of what has been completed and what training is outstanding. One way to do this is to ask attendees to sign an attendance sheet and add this to each employee’s file along with the outline of the training session.
It is extremely important to maintain a record of each in-service training session to include:
• The objective and lesson plan • Sign-in attendance record with date • Results of a post-test to verify understanding
