Figure 4: A. Variation in skin tone homogeneity after 28 days of treatment (*p<0.05 vs. initial time) vs. placebo. Student’s t-test was used after checking the normality distributions by a Shapiro- Wilk test. B. Images of a volunteer before and after 28 days of treatment with the natural active ingredient

subject’s face by a dermatologist. Clinical evaluation was carried out at initial time and after 28 days of product application. The dermatologist examined at both

time points on each volunteer the skin tone evenness using a 0-4 scale (0 less homogeneous, 4 very homogeneous). The same expert grade the same subjects throughout the study. The dermatologist was not allowed to reference previous scores at post-baseline assessments. As shown in Figure 4, treatment with the

natural active ingredient increases skin tone homogeneity after 28 days of treatment for an evenness skin tone.

Skin texture smoothness after application of active cream containing natural active ingredient Skin texture homogeneity was evaluated by the morphology analysis of calibrated digital photographic images. The software detected surface texture irregularities and marked as a spot in the image. Then, the perimeter average of the spot relative to the region of interest selected were calculated for each image before and after 28 days of treatment. Treatment with the natural active ingredient

improves texture homogeneity of the skin, decreasing the perimeter average of the surface texture detected on volunteer’s skin (Figure 5).

Figure 5: A. Mean increase of perimeter average parameter. A decrease of this parameter corresponds to an improvement of skin texture homogeneity. B. Image analysis of the surface texture defects (marked as black spots delimited by violet squares) of a volunteer before and after treatment, showing a visible smoothness effect at the end of the treatment
