This effect was observed in 85% of the volunteers (Fig 3).


Subjective evaluation


The subjective evaluation was examined with the assessment of performance reported by volunteers using a self- evaluation questionnaire filled out after 3, 6 and 8 months of use. The questionnaire contained the following closed questions: Hair loss stabilised? Hair loss stopped? Anti-hair loss product? Hair denser? Hair thicker? Hair more resistant? Scalp better covered by hair? Regrowth of small hairs? Possible answers were: disagree, mostly disagree, mostly agree or agree. At the end of the study, two additional questions were asked to the subjects: l Overall, are you satisfied with this product? l If possible, would you continue using this product?


Hair loss


In the conditions of this study, after 3 months of use, the lotion containing the azalea-isolated yeast active at 0.3% stabilised hair loss in 91% of the volunteers and stopped it in 68% of them. After 6 and 8 months of treatment, all volunteers reported that hair loss was stabilised and stopped in 86% of them after 6 months and in 90% after 8 months. The product was therefore considered to be anti-hair loss by more than 80% of volunteers after 6 months and by 90% of the panel after 8 months of treatment (Fig 4).


Hair quality


In the conditions of this study, the lotion containing the yeast active at 0.3% was generally perceived as positive and very effective by volunteers from 3 months of use and also after 8 months of use, because hairs were perceived as: l Denser by 90% of the volunteers; l Thicker by 85%; l More resistant by 95% of them (Fig 5).


Regrowth of hair


In the conditions of this study, after 3 months of use, the lotion containing the yeast active at 0.3% resulted in better hair coverage of the scalp for 64% of the subjects.


After 6 months of use, the same lotion


was reported to result in regrowth of small hairs by 59% of subjects and better hair coverage was reported by 64% of them. After 8 months of treatment, 85% of the volunteers reported that their scalp was better covered and 80% reported regrowth of small hairs (Fig 6). Finally, 100% of the subjects answered to the additional questions by stating that the product was satisfying and that they desired to continue using it.

Conclusion With Hairgenyl, Silab offers an outstanding natural solution for two main reasons. Firstly, it has been developed and sustained with robust and valuable efficacy modelling studies. It acts at the core of hair follicle biology by managing the molecular anomalies of androgenetic alopecia, thereby reactivating hair growth. It corrects deregulations of signalling molecules and epigenetics and also stimulates mitochondrial dynamics. Secondly, only 0.3% of the product


formulated in a lotion provided extremely satisfying results in volunteers. Indeed, the azalea-isolated yeast active is proven to promote the regrowth of the hair. After 8 months of twice daily application by a group of Caucasian men with slight to moderate androgenetic alopecia, the active formulated at 0.3% in a lotion: l Increased hair density and the proportion of hair in the growth phase (anagen);


l Limited hair loss. An evaluation of product performance by volunteers has confirmed its efficacy: all the volunteers noted that it considerably reduced hair loss and the vast majority of them reported that their hair was thicker, more resistant and that their scalp was more densely covered. At the end of the study, all volunteers wished to continue using the yeast active. Hairgenyl is an active ingredient rich in biopeptides with low molecular weight. It is obtained from the yeast Pichia minuta, isolated from the flowers of azalea Rhododendron indicum. This yeast is manufactured in Silab’s production unit dedicated to biotechnologies which ensures a complete production and traceability control. The active ingredient is


the result of a non-denaturing production process, highly concentrated in a preservative-free powder form (recommended amount: 0.05 to 0.5%), compliant with global cosmetic regulations (Europe, United States, Japan and China). By regaining density of the hair,
